On the atmosphere:
“The atmosphere is great. I was really enjoying the warm up with the Red Hot Chilli Peppers playing. It’s pretty surreal to be honest, we’ve never drawn a crowd like this to any of the rowing events we’ve been to and we know tomorrow is going to be double today if not more. So it’s amazing after all the training we’ve done to be able to share this opportunity with our friends and family.”
On yesterday’s heat:
“The battle yesterday was probably a little bit harder than we wanted it to be, so we had a bit more of a timed practice today and how we transition out of the first 100m or so. It was an amazing race to be in with Germany [yesterday] but we hope after today and shaking some of those nerves out it will help tomorrow.”

“The race was good, we had a clear plan in our minds on how we wanted to execute it. We went out hard through the first 1000m, saw where everyone was and made a decision from there. We improved from yesterday as we wanted to be a bit quicker out of the blocks and we were.
“We’ve done enough training and we know we can recover quickly, we know 24 hours and we’ll be back.”
